Indian Zardozi Embroidery by “Shams” (Sheikh Shamsuddin)

An Indian Zardozi embroidery on velvet, worked with gold, silver, metallic and dyed threads and semi-precious stones (amethysts, tiger’s eye, smoky quartz, red tiger’s eye, & more). The floral composition has raised embroidery detailing, and a “Shams — Agra” signature. Shams was the inventor of “3D Zari Embroidery”, which has been declared a National Treasure by India. Acquired at Sheikh Shamsuddin’s studio in Agra, India in 1995.
